Final Fantasy IV Advance
December 18, 2005
Best Final Fantasy ever is out again. This time on GBA. Man I forgot how awesome this game is. If you like RPG games at all you must get this.
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
December 11, 2005
Saw this movie the other day. I don’t like zombie movies really, but I do like this one. I never saw the original Dawn of the Dead. From what I have heard though the remake is pretty close to the original.
Saw the unrated version. I never know for sure what all they add to those. Usually it’s not much but they sure sell well.
Game Boy Micro
December 11, 2005
Picked up a Micro the other day. Like it alot. It’s so tiny. The screen is so crisp and bright. It really sucks to play games on one of the old Game Boy Advances. Battery life seems good so far. Just hope I don’t scratch it.
Been playing Donkey Kong Country 3 lately. Never played through it. I need to go find all the past ones now
More on Mario Kart DS
December 6, 2005
This is probably the best game on the DS right now. Tons of features and so much to unlock.
I have been hooked on it since I got it. Unlocking other karts and other characters is so much fun.
Playing online is awesome. They did a good job of it. Very smooth and quick to find matches now that others have finally gotten the game. The only drawback is that there aren’t many features you can set up. Such as friends. You have to use a code to find your friends instead of setting up something like Xbox Live where you have one tag and use it to find anyone online.
Hopefully there future games will feature more things like that.
Graphics are pretty good for the DS. The music is great. All the tracks from the older games are here. So much fun. Just need to find more friends to play the game with.
Highly recommended.
Ultimate Spider-Man
December 6, 2005
So far this game hasn’t really grabbed me. It seems to be more restrictive than Spider-Man 2. Which to me is a big negative. It was fun being able to go anywhere in the city at any time.
Playing an Venon is rather fun, it takes a while to get used to his controls though. They are not all that different than Spider-Man thankfully.
Graphics are very good, they use of comic book style shots to show the story is really cool and helps with the atmosphere.
Sound isn’t bad. Haven’t played it in surround sound so can’t really say much about that.
Overall if you like Spider-Man you should probably pick this up at $30 or so.
Animal Crossing: Wild Worlds
December 6, 2005
It’s out today. Never played the Gamecube version. It’s a very different game. It’s almost not really a game.
You get a house and start off working off all the money you owe. You can work at Tom Nook’s store. Running errands, writing letters, planting stuff. All kinds of stuff.
I’m not sure what to think of this game so far. Will post more later.
Mario Kart DS
November 15, 2005
It’s out today. You must get this is you have a Nintendo DS!!!!!!!!!!!
Gunstar Super Heroes
October 31, 2005
Finally a sequel to one of my favorite games of all time. Those of you who like action shooting games, if you haven’t played Gunstart Heroes on the Sega Genesis. You must find a way to play it.
Tresure sure outdid themselves. They have done stuff with the GBA that I didn’t think was possible. There is so much movement and action filling the small GBA screen that it’s hard to believe there is no slowdown. Ever!
Classis gunstar action. The weapon system took a turn for the bad though. You can’t combine weapons like you could on Gunstar Heroes. Which is a dissapointment, but it’s not a deal killer.
Those of you looking for a good action game this winter for the GBA should definitely pick this game up.
Ratchet: Deadlocked
October 31, 2005
Insomniac has done it again. For the last three years I have bought a Ratchet and Clank game. Each one has been better than the other. Man these guys rock.
Deadlocked is different from the last two sequels. Clank is almost non existent in it. There are alot fewer weapons. They make up for that though with the ability to add mods to all the weapons. Some of the mods are reather creative.
My favorite mod is the electrical one. You can take out a whole room with only a few shots. Electricity spreads to all the enemies. Once powered up it is quite deadly.
Graphics have been improved slightly. It’s hard to tell but the games does run smoothly even with tons of stuff going on. Quite a feat. Insomniac is probably one of the best PlayStation 2 developers out there. Highly recommended.
From Russia With Love Demo
October 18, 2005
EA is doing better with this license. The last Bond game sucked big time. This one is on the road to redeming themselves.
I never did see this Bond film, but it sure was a fun level to play. The production is top notch. Very detailed, voices, set pieces everything was nice. The demo was rather short, but in the end you did get to take down a helicoper with flying in a jet pack.
Need For Speed: Most Wanted Demo
October 18, 2005
OK there hasn’t been a good NFS game since Hot Pursuit 2. Man will they please go back to the regular supercars and get ride of the riced out ones. The controls were horrible. The graphics though were quite good.
I sure hope that people get tired of these kinds of cars. There all boring. Who wants to have to rice there car up to get further in a game. That should be optional.
More on Castlevania
October 16, 2005
OK I have gotten two of the endings so far. Going for another. This game is actually alot of fun. I sure hope it is a little longer though as it seems short so far. I think you can play through it with some of the other characters though, if so that should make it decently long.
We Love Katamari
October 12, 2005
Quite simply if you liked Katamari Damacy you will like this game. Some of the levels are quite intersting in this sequel. Thought it is hard to really call it a sequel. Just more of rolling up everything. There are a few twists, such as a level where you race around a track with cars, racing at around there speed. Another where you roll up snow to make the head of a snowman.
The graphics haven’t really changed much, though there is a rather weird story going on that you get to see clips of after every few levels. The music isn’t quite as good as the first game. The first one had one of the best soundtracks ever in a game.
At thiry bucks it is ten more than Katamari Damacy was, but you still get your moneys worth as it is easily longer than the first game was.
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
October 10, 2005
Just picked this up last week and am having a blast. Best Castlevania game in a long time. I am not to far into it yet so quick impressions are all I can offer.
The graphics are some of the best 2D I have seen on the DS. The animations are so smooth. Having the map one the second screen seems like a gimmick at first, but it’s really cool once you get used to it. So much easier than pausing and going back and forth.
The bosses are all huge. The only problem so far are the magic seals you have to use to finish off a boss. The patters now aren’t to bad but I can imagine them getting rather hard quickly.
The music and sound effects are all fitting. The cutscenes leave a little to be desired. I wish they had used the game engine more instead of just text.
Burnout Legends
October 10, 2005
Burnout Legends for the PSP is probably the best game out for this system right now. Which is a rather sad statement. I sure wish I had waited on buying a PSP.
Almost done with Burnout right now. Just finished the world tour just have some crash courses left. The world tour is rather long. There are five total classes of cars. The last class, super is almost to fast. Some of the courses you just have to almost hug the sides to finish.
All the modes from Burnout 2 and 3 are included. The favorite is still road rage. Rather fun after a day of driving in rush hour traffic. Crash mode can also be a good stress reducer.
All in all this is a great buy for the PSP. I would not hesitate to pick it up at forty bucks, but at fifty which is what it sells at, it’s not quite as good a deal.
